When creating an issue how to filter the subcomponents based on the component selected?

I am creating a new issue in the JIRA.  There is a list of components in the dropdown menu. Suppose I select a particular component, then if I want the subcomponent list to be modified (filter out only those entities of the selected component). Is there a way to do it using the UI?

Sorry, you lost me at “subcomponent”. I am unaware of the existence of a subcomponent field. Can you please explain further or illustrate where you are seeing this?
