When are tables added to the new JIRA issue view?

Deleted user August 28, 2018

Since the new JIRA issue view, not all texteditor options are visible anymore. I assumed that those would be updated in time to match the old issue view and expanded with the new components which are already usable in confluence.

But I am still missing a few functions, like the emoticons and tables.

I know making tables in the old view was by adding some | here and there, but in the new issue view, this does not seem to be accepted. If I change back to the old issue view, add my table in my issue description and go to the new issue view again, the description shows it has unsupported format. And than it seems you are only allowed to type in the old things and you need to search how such a thing was added to a text, as the editor options are replaced by the messages stating the description has unsupported format.

That is the reason why I would like to know: When will tables be added to the new jira issue view?

Hi Vera,

I've made a test on my test instance and tables seem to work, but I'm not sure if the steps are the same:

Can you please send us the steps to reproduce this?
Then we can test here and check if it's a bug or a feature that is missing.
If possible, send us screenshots of the problem.

Angélica

It would have been nice to see the steps you have taken to make this table. I cannot find other articles than the old way to create a table:

|| column 1 || column 2 ||

| test | test|

That will be converted to:

\|\| column 1 \|\| column 2 \|\|

\| test \| test \|

Hi Vera,

I followed the same steps as you, but I was able to reproduce the issue you are facing by changing the renderer of the field description.
Probably the renderer is set to "Default Text Renderer", so we need to change to "Wiki Style Renderer" and the table will appear correctly.

Please, go to the Project settings > Fields > Actions > Edit fields > Find the field "Description" > Renderers > Change to Wiki Style Renderer > Update.

After that, please check the ticket again and the table should appear correctly.

If you have any other question, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica

I am not an admin, so I assume I am not able to do this.

The documentation states that the wiki style renderer is default, so how come it isn't default when changing from old to new view?

Where the old view seems to be the wiki style renderer?

Vera

Also at least one of our projects already seems to have this and I am still not able to see the table normally.

I have also asked the one who was able to see those settings if she saw the same as I, and she did. But she is not able to change the values.

To make it a bit more clear:

@Angélica LuzThe mentioned suggestion does not work for me, the wiki style renderer is already correct

Hi Vera,

As we will need to access the instance and confirm what project is being affected, I've opened a ticket with our support.
You will receive a confirmation email and our support team will contact you shortly.
After the ticket is resolved, I'll post the resolution here.

Angélica

I have the same issue and my renderer is the defined as Wiki Style.

It will be great if you could add a designated control to create tables - I use tables a lot.

Hi Vera and Itai,

I've checked the ticket and the issue is actually a bug:
I wasn't able to reproduce this issue, that's why I couldn't open the bug, but someone did and now we must wait for the bug fix to have the table's functionality back.
Please, make sure to watch and vote to receive updates about the bug.
If you have any other question, please let us know.

Regards,
Angélica
