When Epics and Features are collapsed

Situation: Epic and Feature level are collapsed.
On board level we are thus prevented from using Epics and features.
Cumbersome (and yes, why this has been decided in the company manged Jira Set-up one can wonder...)
Is there a work-around?
I would like to create a "Sprint Feature" to which I can link several US`s.
Anyone come across this one before and know how to work around the company imposed limitations?
