What the heck is this new dark mode with all the bright colours on boards?!

This new dark mode that has the bright blue fading to purple is *horrid* and causes a bunch of clashing of colours with labels when looking at the sprint boards and such. A huge block of bright blue is definitely NOT what I could call a dark mode and is painful to look at. Another huge UI/UX miss from Atlassian, especially with no way to customise it.

Edit: Just kidding, you can edit it (hidden in a submenu, no less), but the default changed to the awful gradient on some of my spaces haha

Hi @Joe Engel-Kemnetz

Welcome to the community, this is probably the space background.

Check to set the background.

Select the 3 dot option on the space name and choose "Set space background" choose a solid color option.

There are some inconsistencies when it comes to the new dark mode 👀⚫

Also, some colors do change when switching the theme (e.g., this JRACLOUD-83848), but to me, that's relatively fine.

But I agree that some items and/or elements might be a bit harder to distinguish in dark mode, compared to how things look in light mode.
I'd probably suggest reaching out to Atlassian Support and leaving feedback there, or you can do it directly via the in-app feature:

I can just say that you get 'used to it' after some time 😅

I had the same reaction when I first saw it. The bright blue gradient really doesn’t feel like a proper dark mode, especially when you’re staring at sprint boards for hours. It makes some labels harder to read and the contrast feels off. Glad there’s at least a way to change it, but hiding that option in a submenu was definitely a strange choice.
