What should the JQL be to sync a Next Gen project with Viva Goals objective?

My organization wants to launch Viva Goals (now a Microsoft product, but formerly Ally.io). The best way to set it up is the integrate Jira with specific objectives in Viva Goals. The classic Jira projects work, but the jql seems to be wrong for Next-Gen projects. Or maybe there is a different permission required for next-gen projects. Something seems to be off on the Jira side, but I'm not sure where to look.

What JQL did you use for a the classic project vs. the next-gen project?

I see in the integration documentation:

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/goals/jira-integration

...this note relevant to next-gen projects:

And also this

Hi, we've tried a bunch of different options. I saw the note on the Microsoft documentation. After speaking with the Jira support team, it seems that integrating with next-gen (now called "company-managed") projects is not possible. The Microsoft documentation is incorrect.
