What or why does a "null" Issue Link Type prevent a project import?

Trying to import a project and the  L A T E S T  error is:

"The Issue Link Type 'null' is required for the import but does not exist in the current Jira instance."

Can I just delete all references to Issue Link Types in the source entities file before import?

Altering the whole XML file will be cumbersome, what you can do is manually add the missing Issue Link Type in the current Jira instance.

Make sure it is the same name, and if it is referencing the ID of the issue link type what you can do is manually update the NULL to the actual ID.

Thank you, but the importer does not provide anything beyond what I have already provided in the original question.  I have both JIRA instances open side-by-side to compare the issue link types -- they are identical.  There is no Issue Link Type in the source instance with the name null or 'null' or "null" and in the target instance, I have already tried the suggestion to include leaving the link type name blank(literally null), but JIRA requires a name and will not accept a null entry.

I am having the same error "The Issue Link Type 'null' is required " when importing the Jira Cloud project to the Jira Server platform. Any solutions for this problem ? Thx

I am having the same error as well. Importing between two Jira on-premise instances. Anybody found a solution for that?
