What is the difference between story and stories issue type?

I just created a new Scrum software development project. I'm working in the Backlog and when I click +Create Issue, the system allows you to designate the type of issue. What's the difference between Story and Stories? ...what are the scenarios for determining which one to use?

It looks like "Stories" are something one of your admins has added, or possibly change the name of.

It's an off-the-shelf issue type. You can change or delete it if you want, but it's installed by default.
