What is the best way to connect to a private Jira server using a mobile device?

We use Jira on an internal server protected with a VPN.

How can I use my mobile device to connect to this Jira server (assuming I figured out the VPN part on my mobile).

Currently the only way I see is to use the browser, since the official Jira app only seems to work with the cloud version of Jira.

The problem with the browser version is that is lacks the smooth UX of an app and is annoying to work with.

We're considering dropping Jira as a tool due to this limitation. Would love to continue using it, but I can't find a way around this.
