What is an event template?

When creating my custom event, it gives me the option of using a "template" to define the event based upon existing system templates. What are the differences between the "Generic Event" template and the other ones?

Jobin shortly explained it. I can add, you can create your own email templates or edit existing ones.

It defines the email content - the text used in the email subject, body of the email etc.
