I have performed Jira indexing for Jira software putting all plugins in safe mode.
Post indexing everything worked fine until 2 days, issues started coming in. plugins behave weirdly and doesn't populate the information, and doesn't execute when executed.
So I'm thinking to restart Jira during non-business hours. what can I expect if I restart Jira or perform re-indexing production application during non business hours.
I do not want Jira application to go down as soon as I perform the re-indexing and restarting Jira application.
I'm new to this and I would like to know all possibilities before performing this activity without any knowledge.
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
First, what @Fabio Racobaldo _Catworkx_ already said, I don't need to repeat it.
What I wanted to add is that you really need to read the application logs. If your apps are behaving wierdly or losing data, then there are going to be errors going into the logs that tell you what is going wrong.
Start with <Jira home>/logs/atlassian-jira.log - that's the first place errors go into.
Hi @Raghavender M and welcome,
restart an application means to stop and start again it. Obviously, during restart Jira will be not available for end users. About the reindexing, if you are on a server instance (with just one node) please run a background reindexing (otherwise JIRA will be unavailable also during that time).
More information about reindexing process ara available here https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/understand-the-index-process-in-jira-server-776654790.html
Hope this helps,
Fabio
