What does a blank error message mean on transition screen?

Attempting to transition a status, and when submitting the details in the transition screen, it prevents me from doing so and displays a blank red error message at the top.

There are no fields set to required.

There are no specific user permissions (I gave myself God permissions in the test project) on transitioning the issue

No validators / conditions on the transition that deal with specific role based permissions.

Can you add a screenshot please ?

Have try to ru  the integrity checker ?

Do you have ? instead of step names in your WF in the Text view ?

Do you have any error in the browser console or in atlassian-jira.log ?

Agreed. I'd be looking at the validators on that transition in the workflow for one where you can display an error message but none has been configured
