What are there STATUS with * (asterisk)

I noticed in many project workflows there are status with *  (asterrisk). Is there a significance of status with or with *.

For example is see 

"In Dev"  and  "In Dev*" .  was this just sloppy admin or is there a meaning of statuses with asterisk.

Thank you for reaching out.

Usually, the asterisk symbol is used to identify required fields in Jira screens, however, there is no documentation or reports about this same symbol being used for workflow statuses.

That being said, I believe that the symbol was manually added by the creator of the statuses. I suggest the following steps in order to confirm it:

- Navigate to Jira Settings > Issues > Statuses

- Try to edit and rename the statuses with the Asterisk symbol

- If you are able to do that, then it's clear that the creator of the statuses added it with the simple for some reason. Additionally, check if the description of the status does not have the reason for that symbol.
