I use a free version and my storage is full. I was given a prompt to delete some attachments and I have done that. Now, it doesn't show me the same message but it will appear soon.

I want to know how much storage I am left with and how can I efficiently save/clean up space for my future work.

Any guidance will be valuable.

Hi @Charmi Oza

Increasing storage can only be done by subscribing to a hight subscription, standard or premium (so a paid plan).

You can see your Jira storage in Atlassian Administration.

  1. Go to Atlassian Administration
  2. Select the Apps section
  3. Select the Sites section
  4. Select your site
  5. Select the Storage option, to see the current usage

To be effective, change the attachments size option in Jira administration. Limit the upload size of attachments.

Hi @Charmi Oza ,

In the free Atlassian plans, storage usage is tracked at the site level, not per project or space, and there is no real-time “remaining storage” warning once you cross the limit. That’s why the message disappeared after deleting attachments but may reappear later.

To check how much storage you are using, go to Admin → Billing → View subscriptions → Storage. This page shows your current storage consumption and the limit for your free plan.

For cleaning up and managing space efficiently:

Delete large or unused attachments from old issues/pages

Remove unused spaces or projects if they are no longer needed

Avoid uploading large files; use external storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, etc.) and link them instead

Check page and issue histories and clean up old versions where possible

Storage updates are not always instant, so it may take some time for deleted data to reflect accurately. If storage usage continues to block your work even after cleanup, upgrading the plan is the only way to increase the storage limit on free editions.
