What am I missing to log in to Jira externally?

Can you show me what you put in your hosts file?

I tried adding the line:

127.0.0.1stdio.getmyip.com

(according to your settings) but it didn't work. Is that what you did?

Sorry, I don't understand the question. You're changing your hosts file to achieve what? You shouldn't need to touch that at all. You're trying to log into a Jira install and not able to? Can you explain what you're actually trying to do (not the hosts file change, although that looks very wrong to me) and what is not working? Error messages?
