Weekly status report in Jira initiatives

Is there a way of inserting a "weekly status box" in Jira initiatives and or epics?
My team is currently using the comments within the initiative/epic to provide a status, however that tends to get lost within other comments.
Is is possible to have a separate "field" for a weekly summary status?

You could create a custom field, with required options.

This could by a dropdown, radio. button or multi-line text field

Due keep in mind that custom fields don't retain history. In a text field you could just add the information and keep the previous text.

@Lisa Mathie I'd consider using "Atlas" for this!

It is a purpose-built product by Atlassian that allow defining goals (OKRs) and projects that contribute to the goals. And a Jira epic can be made a "project".

From that point, Atlas becomes the centerpoint of your portfolio status. It will displays the status of each project, ask your people to post weekly updates and so on!
