Did you mean:

We’ve asked your admin to add Jira for you

Hi there -

Our team uses Confluence and Trello but every time I try to open Jira, I get the notification "We've asked your admin to add Jira for you".  Problem is no one knows who the administrator is and it doesn't appear as though we have an account?  I had a partner add me as an administrator but it appears that was only for Confluence.

Hoping to get some support getting Jira up and running so I can centralize some of my projects and requests.

Hello @Shayne Ward

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

As a user community we don't have access to your account/subscription information.

When you say you had a "partner" add you as an administrator, is that somebody within your company or are you talking about an Atlassian Solution Partner?

Who in your company receives the Billing information for your Confluence subscription? Who in your company manages granting users access to your Confluence subscription? Those people may have sufficient access to add the Jira application to your Atlassian Cloud Organization.

If you are not able to figure out internally who those people are, you can reach out to the Atlassian Licensing/Billing/Pricing Support team by completing the form at the following site. They will need to get information from you to confirm your company's ownership of the Confluence subscription, and then they can help you find who has access to add the Jira app.

Hello @Shayne Ward

Were you able to resolve your issue? If so, what was the resolution?

@Trudy Claspill thanks for the follow up, apologies as I was on holidays.  I have a meeting with a team member to discuss today.  Our admin from Confluence did add me as an admin but I'm still unable to access the Jira app.  When I try to go to Jira it almost wants me to activate the app, but when I click that it says it's sent a request to the administrator.  We have a very small team and no one seems to be getting that request e-mail.

Hello @Shayne Ward

You said

"Our admin from Confluence did add me as an admin"

What did your Confluence admin do to make you an admin? Which admin role did they give you? A person who is an Confluence App Admin only would not have enough permission to give you access to Jira. That would require one of the following roles (not all may apply in your environment):

  • Jira App Admin
  • User Management Admin
  • Site Admin
  • Organization Admin

Are other users of the same Confluence able to access Jira? I ask that just to confirm that you have a subscription to Jira on the same site.

If you are on a paid subscription for Confluence then either your Confluence Admin or the person receiving the Billing information for your subscription should be able to reach out to Atlassian support to get assistance with either Atlassian trying to contact your Organization Admins or helping your company get another person established in that role. They could create a support case at https://support.atlassian.com/contact/#/ or by completing and submitting the form at the URL I provided in my first response.

Thank you @Trudy Claspill !  It was the billing administrator.  I've just opened a ticket as our billing administrator is also not receiving my requests.  Thank you for helping with this!

Hello @Shayne Ward

A person that has only the Billing Administrator role would not receive request related to granting a user access to Jira. Nor would they be able to give a user access to Jira, if they only have the Billing Admin role.
