Hi,

I have 2 users to whom i want to restrict the access that they can view issues only assigned to them or created by them i tried the solution https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/limit-users-to-only-browse-issues-assigned-to-reported-by-them-in-jira-server-779160753.html

but it doesnt work if i give browse issue permission to them they can view all the other issues

Can someone help with this? is it possible in JIRA?

Hello @Sanjivani Wayal , Welcome to the community.

Kindly go through these two resources on Security Scheme and Project Permission scheme. This will help resolve your requirement.

1. configure issue security schemes

2. manage project permissions

Hi,

I have created a new security Scheme added the users in that and made it default it doesnt work and in permissions if i add them in browse permissions they would be able to see all he issues in that project though they cant edit but they can view it , done in same way mentioned, not sure what is wrong.

Hello @Sanjivani Wayal

The two users will need to have the Browse Projects permission in order to see any issues in the project.

If you have implemented an Issue Security Scheme and the users can still see all the issues, then you have not implemented the scheme correctly.

Can you show us the Issue Security Scheme you have created?

With Issue Security, to limit the visibility of an issue you must set the Issue Security Level on the issue. The people specified in that Issue Security Level will be able to see the issue.

If you don't set the Issue Security Level of an issue, then everybody with Browse Projects permissions will be able to see the issue.

Note that adding a Security Scheme to a project does not fill in the Security Level on all the pre-existing issues. You will have to set the Security Level on all the pre-existing issues.

With the security level configuration you have shown us, all users in the specified group will be able to see the issues. Are the two users you want to restrict in that group?

If the users are in that group, then they will be able to see the issues with that security level even if they are not the Reporter or Assignee. The users need to not be assigned to any group or role that is in that security level, while everybody else who should see all the issues does need to be in the groups/roles you specify for that security level.

Once you have the limited users removed from the groups/roles in the security level then add to the security level configuration the Reporter and Current Assignee options.

With that configuration, the users you want to limit will be able to see the issues where they are the Reporter or Assignee, that also have the Security Level set.
