Want to disable a field but should be displayed

We have a drop down custom field. Recently we have come up with another custom field with new values that will replace the earlier field.  Below are our requirements

1. Disable the old custom field

2. Keep the old field displayed but should not be allowed to edit

3. Hide the old field during "Create Issue"

Request some thoughts/help on how to configure this in Jira

1. Remove the field from the create and edit screens.
2. same as above. Not that the field won’t be displayed in the view screen if it is empty.
3. same as 1

to remove the field go to your project settings and screens. Find the associated screen, edit and remove the field.
