I was looking for any free add ons/plugins that could help me generate and present custom reports/charts from JIRA.

Our app (I'm part of Old Steet Solution's team), Custom Charts for Jira, is a quite simple solution for almost any reporting/data visualization challenge. It works as a Jira Dashboard Gadget (or Confluence macro).

It's free for up to 10 Cloud users, so if you are a part of a small organization, it may do the work! :)

In case you are a large organization, but can't afford 3rd party tool, @Dirk Ronsmans suggestion is the way to go.

Free and Cloud are usually not really something that is mentioned in the same sentence :)

I would suggest looking inwards in to your company to see if there are any reporting/BI tools already available.

Also, Atlassian acquired Chartio some time ago so depending on how quickly you need it you might be able to get something out of that in the future.
