Visibility of fields only to certain roles for issue type in a team managed project

I have created an issue type under a team managed project. i want to create fields in this issue type which can be edited only by users assigned to a certain role created in the project. How do i achieve this?

I don't really see a way to do that in a team managed project. If your project was company managed, you could use a transition screen with just these fields on it and add a condition to the transition so only users with a certain role can execute the transition (and see the screen).

But team managed projects do not support transition screens (unless that would have been changed recently) and permissions can only be defined through a limited set of rules. Restricting edit permissions to certain roles is not a supported option, I'm afraid.

So, if this is a hard requirement for you, I would consider using a company managed project instead.
