View Issues Assigned to the Same Sprint Across Projects

Kaladin Stormblessed September 22, 2024

Suppose I have multiple projects following the same sprint dates; how can I view all the issues assigned to a particular sprint from all projects in one place? i.e. Get a sprint wise segregation other than a project wise segregation of issues.

Hello @Kaladin Stormblessed

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

The first clarification needed is are the issues really assigned to the same sprint, or is each project setting up their own sprints that use the same cadence?

If they are truly assigning issues to the same Sprint entity, you can get that list of issues in a filter by using the Sprint field as the criteria and specifying the sprint to which they are all assigned.

If they are assigned to different sprints that use the same cadence, there is not a method to filter for issues in sprints based on the start and end dates of the sprints. You could again use the Sprint field in a filter and specify each sprint explicitly. Or you could use the openSprints() function to get issues in all currently active sprints. For more information on the filtering options for the Sprint field refer to:

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/jql-fields/#Sprint

Note that you will only get results for issues in projects that you have permission to see. If you don't have permissions to see the project contents or Issue Security has been used to limit the issues you can see, those issues will not be visible in your results.

You can also create a Scrum board based on the filter(s) that you create, if you want to visualize all the sprints/issues in a scrum board view.

Thanks for the reply! I think all the project boards have their own sprints with matching cadences. Is there any way I can map all of them to one sprint?

Let us back up a step and ask "what problem are you trying to solve?"

If we understand the problem you are trying to solve, we might be able to suggest an alternative.

But no, you can not map sprints to sprints. Sprints are comprised of issues, and an issue can be in only one open or future sprint at any given time. Jira does not native support the concept of a sprint comprised of other sprints.

There are ways to see the contents of multiple sprints at once. Perhaps that would satisfy your need.
