Validating a "user" input into a custom field is part of a project role

Hi there,

Is there is a way to add a workflow validator (or condition) to check if a user added into a custom field on an issue is part of a particular Project Role?

Welcome to the community!

You might like to explore condition section in the transition for Workflow. 

You can use "Value Field" condition to explore this , however it would only check the user not the project role. 

However you can explore automation rule for the requirement, It should be setup as:
