Using custom fields with Jira issues

Hi,

I have two questions related to Jira custom fields (have a  basic understanding of Jira product):

- is it possible to add a Jira custom field to a standard Jira issue (as example a Jira story)? AS an alternative, I understand that I have to define a new (type of) Jira issue, in order to add my custom Jira fields.

- if adding custom Jira fields to story is OK, is it possible to make these custom fields visible only for specific projects?

Yes you can add custom fields to standard issues

also in context configuration you can define the project/issues you want to populate fields
