I am having issues with trying to connect the latest Jira version 9.10 with a SQL server 2019 std.
I have tried several ways configuring SQL instances, default instances/different modes of Windows authentication/mix mode and I cannot get SQL to connect/talk to Jira.
I am getting a connection string error (posted later)
Jira is a brand-new installation on Windows 2019 OS.
Is there any special guide/steps for using an SQL server as the database?
What is the preferred Database to host Jira?
If I use PostgreSQL the process is seamless.
Can anyone share any knowledge with me or recommendations,
Any ideas are welcome.
This is a single-node air-gapped installation
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
This sounds like it is all down to your authentication, so you'll need to talk to your database admins and how they want you to connect.
There are guides for using many databases with Jira, albeit only the supported ones. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/connecting-jira-applications-to-a-database-938846850.html
For server installs, the preferred databases have fluctuated in order, but they've mostly been:
However, there's very little to recommend one over the other beyond "Atlassian dev here first" and "cost of licences" - you should use whichever one your DBA teams would prefer to be supporting you with!
The other couple on the list are more about DC installs...
I am the DB for this project but I do have a DB team on site that might be able to reach out to..
I just cannot get my head around it as it is no different from anything that I have laid down before.
I have tried using Windows mode and mix modes. the service is running ports configured.
I will look over the guides
