Users mapping when the projects migrating to another instance

Kusuma Nimma September 28, 2021

Hi Team,

I need to migrate a project from one jira instance to another jira instance.

70 users are working in source project. But the 70 users are not available in target instance.

Some users are available but target usernames are different.

Is there any  possibility to map the users when we migrate the project.

For Example: source instance has user1, user2 and user3  users and target has jira1,jira2 and jira3 users

So when I migrate the project I want to map the users like below so that source instance users will not be created in target instance.

user1 --> jira1, user 2-->Jira2

Please suggest me to proceed further. because of this problem I am unable to migrate the project

The import will try and map users based on the email address, but it the user does not exist or have a different email Jira will just create the user for you based on the import data. So if you do not want that to happen you would have to clean up your data before doing the import.

@Mikael Sandberg

Thank you for your reply. I have data that I can not clean up. I am using configuration manger plugin for migrating the project. As you said it will create new users but I am unable to map with existing users.

The problem is, target instance already has some users which are created from AD. But source and target usernames are different

I want to know is there any possibility to map the users when we migrate the project.
