Just a heads up: On March 24, 2025, starting at 4:30pm CDT / 19:30 UTC, the site will be undergoing scheduled maintenance for a few hours. During this time, the site might be unavailable for a short while. Thanks for your patience.
×Error adding Watchers in tickets... "we couldn't add that watcher". It will display a list of all users, but the error occurs after selecting the person.
When I disable the Issue Security Scheme it appears that the Reporter can add any Watcher they want. In the Scheme I allow Reporter, Current Assignee, My Group. No option for Watcher exists.
Can I not have an Issue Security Scheme Set while allowing users be able to add Watchers... boy I hope that isn't the case.
Someone please tell me that I am wrong.
Thanks,
Mike
Hello @Mike Bell
I see there is a change requests to support using Watchers within the Issue Security Scheme.
https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-cloud-automation/
If Watchers are not part of the Security scheme then it doesn't really make sense to be able to add Watchers to the issue. They wouldn't be able to see it.
I think the only work around might be to use a custom multiple User Picker field to specify Watchers, and use that custom field in the issues security level.
Thanks Trudy. I have made the option visible to disable during ticket creation or editing.
Another option that I came up with, but didn't use, was to set automation to add a specific watcher to every ticket created by specific users.
I hope that Atlassian finally fixes this.
Thanks,
Mike
