User unable to access Jira Software

Those new to the Atlassian Community have posted less than three times. Give them a warm welcome!

Hi, We have added 2 users as Administrators on our Project but they can't access the project still. They just see the welcome page but doesn't go anywhere from there. All other users can access the project successfully.

Do they need some kind of plugins to access Jira ?

Hi @Bhushan Sharma 

Two things worth checking first:

Browse Projects:

  • This is for Classic Projects
  • Assuming "Administrators" is a project role, if this is not listed under the permission "Browse Projects" - the user's won't be able to access the project still
  • As a Project Admin, go to Project Settings > Permissions and check what group, role, etc a user needs to be in to utilise this permission
  • If it's not "Administrators", you'll need to rectify for those users. For example, if it's another project role you could go to Project Settings > People to add them to it. If it's a group though, you'll need a Site Admin to manage this via Jira Settings > User Management.

Application Access:

  • You mention they're stuck at the welcome page - can they view any projects/issues?
  • If not, check they have product access to Jira
  • As a Site Admin, go to Jira Settings > User Management - locate one of the users in question and open their profile
  • Application access is listed in the profile as checkboxes - ensure they have Jira Software access

If neither of these work - or this is Next-Gen - let us know so we can advise further :)
