Dear All
Apart from permission schemes, is there any way to give access rights for a specific user group to projects of a dedicated category? In my case I have several departments and/or locations working together in some projects.
However, creating individual permission schemes won't work for me. I already use broad, global permission schemes for multiple departments and locations, and I want to avoid proliferating schemes just to manage different user groups.
Example:
- Two project categories: [R&D A] and [R&D B]
- Three user groups: 1, 2, 3
- One permission scheme: <Agile Team Permissions>
How to give <Agile Team Permissions> to user groups 1 & 2 for all [R&D A] projects,
whilst providing <Agile Team Permissions> to user groups 2 & 3 for all [R&D B] projects ??
Automation rules won't work, I figured that already.
Any help is very appreciated !
Thanks & greetings
Christian
Hi @Christian B_ ,
unfortunately you can't manage permissions based on project categories with a single permission scheme.
You could have a specific permission scheme for a category with groups within (it's not a best practice). My suggestion is to grant permissions to group per project basis using Project Role.
Hope this clarifies,
Fabio
Hello Fabio,
Thank you very much for your feedback. I had indeed feared something like this. Basically, I would have a few criticisms of the management of groups in Jira, but for now it is what it is.
Thanks a lot, greetings,
Christian
