Hello -

We have an odd scenario that is causing us issues.  We have 2 users that have the same ticket open where the ticket is not assigned.  User 1 assigns the ticket to their id.  Although user 1 is assigned, user 2 still sees the assignee field as blank so they assign the ticket to themselves.  User 2's entry overrides the user 1 assignment. Both individuals now work the ticket not realizing it's been reassigned.  Is there a way to auto refresh the screen without a user exiting the ticket so user 2 would see that the ticket has already been assigned?

I think we will need to implement a workflow change but wondering if there is any function in JIRA that can auto refresh a screen once a field has been updated.

Thanks!

This is an old problem. It should only happen in rare instances. JIRA doesn't lock the record in the database when selected.

First, you shouldn't allow unassigned tickets. They can easily be overlooked because they never appear in the assigned to me built in search for anyone. This will make is much less likely multiple people will work the same issue. In the permission scheme you can limit editing to only the assignee. There is no built in auto-refresh. Until the user saves the issue there is no way for the browser to tell it should refresh, and refreshing the screen would wipe out any data entered since the last save.
