Hi all,

Hope you're all safe and well.

I tried uploading bunch of subtasks and link them to its parent task. However during upload configuration steps, mapping for Issue Type is not available. As a result after importing, the records will be defaulted as Task (not Subtask), and I have to do bulk change to all I have recently uploaded.

Is there a way to upload data to Kanban board and set its Issue Type = Subtask?

Regards,

Zaldy

Hello @Zaldy Parian

Thank you for reaching out. I hope you are safe and well too!

Per your description, it seems you are trying to import sub-tasks to your Jira from an external source (CSV or JSON), however, you are not being able to map them as sub-tasks. Is that correct?

Can you please confirm what are the steps and type of import (JSON or CSV) you are trying to run? Also, are you trying to import to a Next-gen or Classic Project?

If you are using a Classic project, you can easily import sub-tasks using the CSV functionality, properly mapping the parent ID column in the CSV file as described in the section "Creating sub-tasks" of the documentation below:

Importing data from CSV

Now, if you are using a Next-gen Project, I'm afraid there is no way to import sub-tasks because of some bugs in the application, better explained in the link below:

Unable to perform direct migration of the project from cloud to cloud due to CSV import bugs with Next-Gen projects

If you are using a Next-gen project, please feel free to vote and watch the bug to increase its priority and also receive notifications about its fix implementation.

Let us know if you have any questions.

@Petter Gonçalves - for some reason, I could not reply to your response above.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the steps from the link you provided. It seems that I have to upload and export the Task first in order to get the Parent Id. Then upload the Subtask referencing the parent id for each subtask.

Thanks,

Zaldy
