Update a custom field with the username of the last commenter on an issue?

Is there a simple way to update a custom field with the username of the last person to comment on an issue? I'm currently using the custom field type "Username of last updater or commenter", but I want to be able to quickly view the field on an issue and filter by the last commenter.
