Did you mean:

Unless you are in the backlog, there is no way to assign to a sprint.

Karunen Vencatasawmy October 1, 2025

Currently, in the list view or any of the individual WI views, there is no way to assign it to a sprint.

Previously, you could right-click in the list view to add to a sprint.

On in the WI there was a field to edit the sprint.

I haven't edited the fields for the WI, but a quick check of the fields still shows it but I can't see it.

Hi @Karunen Vencatasawmy , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your post.

Do you mean, for example, you don't manage to add a work item to the Sprint from here?

Have you already tried adding the Sprint column to the List view and you don't manage to add things?

Best wishes

Yes, it won't let me add the sprint column.

Hi @Karunen Vencatasawmy , thanks for your feedback.

Are you a project admin in this project? If so, you should be able to add the Sprint field to the screen or move it up using this 'Configure' button. Normally fields that are empty, as the Sprint is in this case, are hidden.

If you aren't a project admin, you will need to ask someone who is to help you with this.

Best wishes

Hi @Valerie Knapp

Thanks. I am currently the Admin.

I believe it is set up

Actually, it is working now. I had added it to the above description, not on the side. But it still won't let me add the column in the list view.

So it's okay for now. I will need to clean up the layout.

Hi @Karunen Vencatasawmy

welcome to the community!

If you keep running into roadblocks with this and are open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, you may want to have a look at the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your work items (issues) that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your work item fields - including your work item's sprints - much like you’d do in e.g. Excel, Google Sheets, Smartsheet, or Airtable.

This is how it looks in action:

I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
