Under what condition will subtask estimates be rolled up to their parent tasks? Is this available on for the "Original Estimate" field?

There has been lots of discussion and opinion around this, but I'm looking for a simple answer: under what condition will subtask estimates be rolled up to their parent tasks? Is this available only for the "Original Estimate" field? We are using a field called Development Estimate, and have it defined as our Estimation Statistic in our board configuration. If I leave the estimate on a task empty, but estimate the subtasks, the Development Estimate in the parent task remains blank. I am hoping to find a way to show estimate roll-ups.

See this discussion for a detailed discussion arounf GH estimates on sub-tasks, and what will and will-not roll up https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/84349/rapid-board-time-estimates-with-sub-tasks

In short I would say no, your custom field won't roll up.

This also seems to be an exact duplicate of https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/143647/estimates-not-rolling-up-to-parent
