When I click on a JIRA work item, it opens the item in a new window, and I cannot use the next/previous button to navigate. Please advise how I can suppress the new window being popped up and instead use next/previous button from one work item to the other.

Hola Krishnachandran,

This sounds like Jira’s newer preview experience rather than a browser pop-up. When you select a work item from Search or the List view, Jira now opens it in a preview panel or modal, rather than the older detailed results view that included next and previous navigation.

There isn’t currently a setting to restore the old navigation or to turn off preview panels globally. You can expand the preview into a larger modal or open the work item in a full page, but the next and previous buttons from the older view aren’t available there.

For now, the closest workaround is to keep the Search or List results open and select each work item from the results, rather than opening each one in a separate browser tab.

Thanks,

James
