Hello,

I seem to be unable to make the Component field optional in a project-specific field configuration scheme.

The configuration of the field shows as follows:

Schermafbeelding 2025-03-28 082818.pngSchermafbeelding 2025-03-28 082838.png

The field is still marked as Required even though its status is set to Optional under the actions tab.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

Hey @Eralp Tezcan

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Under the actions tab, you can select 'Optional' to make the field optional. That should remove the "Required" lozenge from the field name.

Thanks!

Thank you @Karan Sachdev and @Valerie Knapp

It is clear now.

Apparently the option shown under the actions tab does not indicate the chosen option :)

That's correct, @Eralp Tezcan

It shows you the available actions for that field. So when you see 'Optional', it actually means you have the option to make the field optional (non-mandatory).

Hi @Eralp Tezcan , welcome to the Atlassian Community and thanks for your question.

If this is a company-managed project, which I believe it is, you need to modify the field configuration to make the Components field not mandatory.

Please check out the documentation for how to do this here https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/what-are-issue-field-configuration-schemes/

https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-a-field-configuration-scheme/

I hope this helps you.

Cheers
