I’m using the free version of Jira (Free Plan) and I’m the project administrator.
However, for the past few days I’ve been unable to delete tickets, even though this action was still possible not long ago.
I would like to know how I can regain this functionality.

This functionality seems to come and go with the Free subscription. Try creating a manual triggered automation rule and in the rule put in an action for Delete issue. See if that works for you.

Accordingly to this Article the free plan doesn't allow you to edit the permission scheme. Did you have a standard/premium trial license before?
