Hi, we have a number of filters that don't appear in the Filter dropdown section when trying to create a new scrum or kanban board. They're also not visible as an option on existing boards.
Is this a bug, or is there some new setting needed for filters to be visible?

The search might not be finding the filter, or it might not be shared with you. Have you tried finding the filter from Issues -> Search -> Manage filters? If so, and you can find the filter you want, can you try copying and pasting its full name into the saved filter box?
I've tried both options, and have permissions (some of the filters are ones I've created). Typing or copy paste of the full filter name didn't work so was wondering if there was an existing bug or something in this area of the cloud version.

Hmm. It is very much starting to look like a bug.
There is one more test I'd do, as I've run into some weirdness with language settings and odd characters before (but as your postings show names in plain English, I doubt these will show us where the problem is)
The stories behind my thoughts here and above were:
If it's not the name problem, then I think this one needs to go to Atlassian. Are you on Cloud free or starter (up to 10 users), or Standard or above? (If it's standard or above, you can raise the bug report, if it's under, we can ask Atlassian to take a look here)

Thanks heaps Nic,
I've tried a few combinations and have the same issue, it also won't let me create a Kanban board so it's a common issue.
We're on the Standard subscription with 1500+ users.
I retried the same thing via our Administrators access to confirm it wasn't permissions related, might be a bug then.

The mention of administrators usually makes me suggest another look at permissions - just because someone is an admin does not mean they can see everything, they still might not have a filter or dashboard shared with them, or any project rights.
But I think we ruled that out earlier.
I'm afraid we're stuck with a bug report then - https://support.atlassian.com/contact and I'd hit "Technical issues", "Jira Software" and your URL to get started.

Thanks heaps Nic,
I had a rethink about if the filter list was just getting overwhelmed by the volume of options and added my initials at the end of the filter name... given there is less of that combination it seems to find them.
Given doing this works I may start to give my ones a unique number each to make life easier.
Really appreciate your help with this one.

I can't say that I'm happy about your fix for this.
Not your fix, that's a great way to fix it, my problem is that you had to do it! The software shouldn't be putting you in a place where you have to do this.
I think the search should always return exact (copy and paste) names of filters, or anything else you're searching for, without you having to bias it by changing the name.
There's a nagging doubt that if we're overwhelming the searches, it might be time to do a bit of housekeeping and see if we can kill off stuff leavers have left behind, or people just aren't using, but Jir^H^H^H all Atlassian software is really bad at recording that, so it's quite hard.

Check you have permission to that filter

One of them is mine, and the others that I've used to compare I have permissions for.
