Unable to close Story when Task 1, Task 2 and Task 3 are completed

Hi,

I have tried to link both together, but unable to automatically close Story when task 1 and 2 are completed. Task 1 is blocked by Task 2 and Task 2 is blocked by Task 3 by the way. There is no way for me to add parent. I want an automation rule that:

Upon task 3 completion, it checks for the Story's relations and see if Task 1 and Task 2 related to the Story are also completed, before it close by itself.

Hi @Jar Lady

When you say it's blocked - does this mean you can't close a Story when related Tasks are open?

Or are you trying to do this in Automation and need help to do it?

Not sure of the exact issue here, so just wanted to check :)

Can I also confirm...

  • Are these Tasks Sub-tasks?
  • If no, how are they linked to the Story (linked issues?)

Do you have any plugins like JSU or Scriptrunner? They have built-in functionality that allows this.

If not, I'm sure there's a way to do this with an Automation rule, but I haven't had the opportunity to build it and test to see exactly how it needs to be configured.

Hi,

I don't have JS or scriptrunner as I am not the Jira admin. Would be great if you can figure out how to do this and share with me, cos I have tried many times but couldn't get the result I wanted  :(
