Hi Kersten,

Sorry to hear about this problem.  I understand that you're using Jira Software 8.5.1 and that trying to open an issue on a kanban board produces this error:

Exception: TypeError: r.error is undefined

Is this error happening on other Kanban or Scrum boards?  Or is this isolated to a specific board?

I found one other support case that appears to have reported the same error message, however in that case we found that there was a problem with a workflow on that system.  I'm not sure if it applies to your case here yet, but in that case we found that Jira Errors due to non-existing status was helpful here.  Also in that case, we found that a step could not be removed from the workflow in which case we also touched on Removing Workflow Step Fails with No status with that ID could be found, it may have been deleted.

But before following the resolutions in those KBs, it would probably be best to recreate this error once more, and then take a closer look at the $JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file.  If it's this problem then there should be errors in that log file as described in the first KB of :

If you see errors like this, then you should be able to try to follow that KB to try to correct this workflow/status problem.  If that is not the case, I'd still be interested to see if there are any other warnings/errors in that log file that correspond to the date/time in which this error occurs in the browser.

Another troubleshooting step for these kinds of problems is to temporarily disable all user plugins in Jira (except for Jira Software/Jira Agile ones as we need these to see Kanban boards) and then see if you can recreate this problem.  Sometimes plugins to Jira can cause these kinds of errors as well.

Try these steps and let me know what you find here.
