I'm a site admin creating an automation that uses "Components" as a condition in a company-managed project. However, when I add the condition "Work item fields condition" and select "Components" for the field, an error appears:
We do not have Compass integrated with our site, and we only have one "Components" field in our entire site.
I checked the Components section in the project and there is no toggle to switch between Jira and Compass components like in the past.
Is this a bug or did I miss some updated about this? AI is giving me answers that don't have any supported documentation.
TIA!
Hello @Christel Gray
I concur with @Bill Sheboy in that Compass may have been used in the past and then switched back to using Jira Components. Per the documentation this can occur and the Compass Components will continue to exist.

This is the CR that mentions that a Product Admin level control was released, as mentioned by Bill.
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-92796
That includes a link to this article about that feature.
The last section of the article has the steps for setting whether Jira or Compass Components are used by default for a new project. I don't know how you would be able to determine If it was set to Compass in the past if it is currently set to Jira.
This article indicates that Compass is being phased out, so the perhaps that also affects the availability of the settings/toggles.

I recall a year-or-so ago a Product Admin-level setting was added to change the default offered for component types (i.e., Compass or not) for projects. Thus, I wonder if someone (e.g., a Product Admin) added a Compass component and then toggled off that setting.
I'm on a free license site and so cannot check the specifics of the feature, so perhaps check with your peers and the site-level setting to find it.
Kind regards,
Bill
