To search only after I stopped typing

I use Kanban boards and when I type in the search box before I can finish typing, the board reacts to what I type and slows the process of the search. Is there a way I can change a setting so that the search function does not start until I am done searching? Maybe adding a button next to the Search box to click after typing is done? 

A similar issue happens when clearing the search box. It reacts to each letter removal and tries to search the "new word" without waiting for me to edit the entry.

There is no way to disable the autocomplete for searches at this time.  There are several suggestions to add this, which you can review and vote for on the items linked below:
