Jira is not properly tracking time in tickets. As you can see from the picture titled "Workflow", our workflow has three statuses (Open, Grooming, To-Do) that should be considered "Not Started" as it relates to time tracking.
However, the column settings on the board (see picture titled "Columns") are tagging those tasks to "Started." Thus the end result is I get an innaccurate view of the time estimates in the picture labeled "time-tracking."
When I go to configure the columns in the board, it automatically makes any status after the first column a blue "started" status regardless of what I do. Please help!!
Hi @Paul Sciortino ,
To make “Not Started” work correctly, Jira expects all statuses that mean "not started" to be in the first column of your board.
Go to Board Settings → Columns
Drag GROOMING
and TO DO
into the first column (with OPEN
)
Keep only your actual “in-progress” statuses (like DOING
) in the second column
This way:
Jira will treat those issues as not started
The time tracking bar will correctly show time in "not started" section
Jira doesn't care what the status name is — it only cares which column the status is in.
You Want It To Mean... | Jira Needs It To Be In... |
---|---|
Not Started | First column (far left) |
In Progress | Any other middle columns |
Done | Last column (far right) |
i have also facing the same issue on my client's websies, please check sites:
