There were errors creating issues in JIRA. Site: Site is required

I received the error "There were errors creating issues in JIRA. Site: Site is required" when attempting to use the create Jira issue macro in confluence.

Your JIRA system has a custom field called "site" in the project that your Confluence is trying to create the issue in.  It is flagged as mandatory, but Confluence is not providing a value, so it is being rejected as incomplete.

Thanks for the response. 

I'm new to administering JIRA and Confluence and did not originally set up either or them so I'm not sure what that custom Site field is being used for.

Would the fix be:

1. make the field optional in JIRA? If so, where would I do that?
2. get Confluence to provide a value? If so, where would I do that?
3. something else?
