Hello everyone,
we currently use Jira Server 7.2.9. It is possible to mark some text and drag n drop it onto any text field. The marked text then was pasted into that field.
Now we're testing Jira Server 7.6.6 and this "feature" is not available anymore for some fields. For example pasting the text into the Web Link field (when linking an issue) did work with drag and drop, with 7.6.6 does not work anymore.
What we found out:
Does anyone know what was changed (technically) that this won't work anymore?
Cheers, Alex
Everyone that got here, please vote for the Jira Bug:
I believe it probably goes back to the changes in Jira 7.3, where Jira gained the Rich Text Editor, details in https://confluence.atlassian.com/jiracore/jira-core-7-3-x-release-notes-861242669.html#JIRACore7.3.xreleasenotes-Richtextediting
Before this version there was a different editor in use for these kinds of fields (description, comments, etc).
I would recommend using Ctrl + C to copy that data and Ctrl + V to paste again as a means to get past this. I understand it's not exactly the same as a click and drag from before, but at least this way you can still quickly copy the value in the other field.

Hi Andrew, thank you for the information.
I think for comments and description the explanation with the Rich Text Editor is applicable.
For the Link Text (see my first screenshot) I don't think it is a Rich Text Editor, but a simple text field. For this I would still expect drag and drop to work.
Yes, the "standard" way of copy+paste is a workaround, but we have the case the on one side we have a list of some objects, on the other side in JIRA we have a field where we can just drag and drop the desired objects and the text will be pasted. At least for 7.2.9 that was the case.
