We want the Teams chat conversations linked to Jira tickets to be stored and visible within the ticket itself — so the full conversation history is available even after Teams deletes messages based on the company retention policy (currently 90 days).
Is there a way to store or archive these conversations inside Jira or Confluence so they are not lost after the retention period?
Welcome to the community!
I'm not entirely sure whether this requirement can be fulfilled by the native Microsoft and Jira integrations. However, with our Microsoft 365 for Jira app, it is possible to link Teams chats directly to Jira tickets so that conversations are available within the ticket context.
To ensure that chat history is not lost when messages are deleted due to retention policies, we also provide a backup functionality. This can be triggered automatically based on configurable events, for example when a Jira issue is resolved, allowing the conversation to be stored within Jira for future reference.
You can find more information about this functionality in our documentation:

I have reviewed from apptech Youtube video and found helpful, we are IT support team and we get escalated tickets from service desk team.
So, we want to this integration so the person woking on the ticket can start a conversation from JIRA with the reporter and all the related conversation can be stored in JIRA ticket. Can you please let me know if we have to take the license ( $3 for 100 users) for all the users in the company or only for the team who is working on the tickets and they can talk to anyone in the company who doesn't have this license.
Last thing, we are a healthcare company and doesnt want to expose information outside, can you help on if data is stored or used somewhere if we use this plugin?

Hi @Naveena Tati ,
Are you using any specific connector to connect Jira and Microsoft Teams (assuming we're talking about that)? Probably we're talking about this. 👀
In any case, to my knowledge, native or official features and integrations do not support full chat sync and storing entire chat histories.
You could probably manually copy the conversation and store it as an internal note (in JSM) or as a regular comment, or maybe as an attachment if you would take a screenshot from the conversation 🤔
I'm curious - are you referring to private or group Teams conversations, or would you like to 'sync'/save a conversation from the channel?
Also, you're saying that you have a company policy where all messages older than 90 days are deleted from Teams? If so, that's quite interesting...
Cheers,
Tobi
