Team-managed project sub-tasks invisible on company-managed project sprint board

Alexander Bakhurynskyi February 6, 2023

Hello,

We have some team-managed projects issues from which we need to include on the "Everything" sprint board that sits in a company-managed project. The board custom filter does the job well with all issue types including sub-task from other company-manages projects. However, sub-tasks from team-managed projects are not included neither on that sprint board (columns) nor in its backlog, although they inherit sprint value from their parent which can be checked by going into issue details. That's causing big inconvenience as only tasks are visible and it's impossible to see how their sub-tasks move across the board during sprint.

Is it a bug or I need to tick something somewhere? I wouldn't like to migrate those team manages projects into company-managed one just because of that as all issue keys will get messed.

UPD: This might be directly related to the problem https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-18064.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Sub-tasks do not appear in backlogs in Scrum boards because they are pointless noise.  You can't rank them outside their issue (they are part of their parent issue, not separate entities) and you don't use them in sprints, so they are of no use in the backlog.

On the board, you'll see them if you do swimlanes by story.  But there is a bug in that team-managed sub-tasks still won't show in company-managed scrum boards.

Hi, Nic. The backlog part of the answer makes sense, thank you. In regards to the mentioned bug, is Atlassian aware of it and is it going to be fixed any time soon? Thanks.
