Tasks in Big Picture Gantt Chart Always Start on "Today"

I created a new program in Big Picture scoped it to an existing JIRA project.  I am able to see all of the tasks from the JIRA project but all the tasks show a start date of "Today" on the Gantt chart.  I cannot change the start and end date from the GUI.  When I try to change the date, it just snaps back to "Today".  I would appreciate any insight as to what the problem is.
