Swimlanes by Epic not being displayed on Kanban board

What I did:

1. I have a Kanban board and using the Kanban backlog instead of a dedicated column 
2. Created Epics and Tasks linked to Epics via Parent field 
3. Configured Board settings -> Layout -> Swimlanes -> Epics, per official documentation
   (https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/configure-swimlanes/)

Expected behavior:
Tasks which are selected for development from different Epics should appear in separate swimlanes on the board for all users.

Actual behavior:
Tasks selected for development appear in a flat list with no swimlane separation. The Swimlanes setting has no effect.

please confirm that you are on a company-managed project. If so, it should work. Please wait a while after epic creation/parent link setup
