Subscription email in plain text

I have a subscription on a filter set up to email me on a custom schedule. The email I receive is HTML based and requires me to have access to our Jira server to even view the contents. Since our Jira instance is behind a firewall, that means I need to connect to our VPN just to read the mail. Is there any way subscriptions can be sent plain text? Or any way that I can view the results without havin a direct connection to the Jira server?
