Sub-task issue type doesn't appear

My team has decided to use sub-tasks so I'm trying to make it visible/useful on a filtered custom made board. I can see it is included on the screens, schemas, layouts, issue types and the like, but we cannot create a subtask either from inside a task or to select new.

Looking for some direction

@Charisse Robison sub-task issue creation is typically only visible from a regular level issue and not through the 'Create' button. You can find more details here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/create-an-issue-and-a-sub-task/.
